Archaeological project co-ordination and management

Significant experience in the assessment and management of archaeology and cultural heritage issues for major engineering schemes including roads, motorways, waste treatment facilities, wind farms and other major engineering projects - public inquiries, environmental impact statements and management of historic environment issues at all stages of the project. The consultancy is highly experienced in managing projects, people and budgets, and in integrating archaeology and other cultural heritage aspects with ecology, environmental and engineering issues.

  • Commissioning and management of archaeological site works from geophysical survey to large scale excavation and reporting.
  • Well-written research-based documentation, from environmental impact statement to technical and popular report
  • The consultancy currently leads on Cultural Heritage for the designers and constructors of the A1 Dishforth – Barton upgrade scheme in North Yorkshire. Archaeology and Cultural Heritage is likely to account for a budget of around £8m - the route is 24 miles long and includes two extensive Scheduled Ancient Monuments.
  • Other current projects include three proposed canal marinas involving geophysical survey and trial trenches, as well as environmental assessments of proposed waste disposal plants.
  • The consultancy has good working relationships with Historic England, national parks and local government archaeological officers.
